DISTRICT FOURS– Saturday 29th – Sunday 30th May,2021

Southport Bowls club hosted this event and welcomed the teams. The teams were from Musgrave Hill, Broadbeach, Southport, Dee Robinson had a composite team as did Vicki Day. At the end of play on day one , scores were tallied and four teams were to play the semi final on Sunday morning . They were Broadbeach 1(Anne’s team) Broadbeach 2( Kathleen ‘s team), Dee Robinson’s team and Vicki Day’s team. A blind draw was held and Broadbeach 1 took on Broadbeach 2 , with Dee’s team challenging Vicki’s team . Great bowls were played by all teams .Broadbeach 1 won their game 24 -10 and Vicki’s team were successful winning 21 to 14. Broadbeach 1 were to challenge Vicki’s team in the finals. This game was played on Sunday afternoon.

Vicki Day’s team members– lead Margaret Boulder, 2nd Christine Leeden, 3rd Serena Bonnell and Skip Vicki Day .

Vicki’s team won the toss and the game started. Broadbeach appeared to handle the nerves better and took a commanding lead. Playing excellent bowls, they appeared to have the bowl on a string . Vicki’s girls found their mojo and they started to win some ends. Nothing was going to stop Anne and her girls . The weather changed , windy, cold and heavy cloud cover ,the Broadbeach team took it in their stride and started to get the scoreboard ticking over again .Broadbeach played excellent bowls , each player played their part putting the bowl within a whisker of where the skip wanted it. It was a great display of bowling . At the end of the day Broadbeach were the winners.
